Snow Biome
from:Elite Guide for Terraria by:Mobile Buzz LLC

A Snow Biome is an area dominated by snow blocks and ice blocks, and it displays a constant snowfall effect. Trees within snow biomes have a snowy cover on them, and they yield boreal wood, instead of ordinary wood. During rain, a snow biome displays a blizzard instead, where snowfall increases and unique enemies spawn.
Dome shaped hills are commonly found in snow biomes, each one containing a cave that is similar in generation to crimson chasms. Some NPCs will sell different items when situated in a snow biome, including the Merchant, Painter, and Clothier.
At cavern depths, each snow biome becomes an underground snow biome.

Notes:
#1: Dome shaped hills are commonly found in snow biomes, each one similar in generation to crimson chasms.
#2: Player-created snow biomes are possible by placing snow blocks and/or ice blocks in an area.
#3: Water does not turn into ice blocks in a snow biome. Ice blocks are generated only on world creation.
#4: Snow biomes are somewhat imune to surface Hallow and Corruption/Crimson spread, since snow blocks cannot be transformed. However, ice blocks are affected and will be transformed into pink ice blocks (Hallow), purple ice blocks (Corruption), and red ice blocks (Crimson), which mostly effects the underground snow.
#5: Grass will not grow on dirt blocks in a snow biome.
#6:From surface to underground, the snow biome will always generate in a shape similar to a trapezoid.
#7: The snow biome will always be located on the opposite side of the world as the jungle. However, unlike the jungle, it can be located very close to spawn.

My Personal Discoveries:
Discovery #1: Snow, when compressed into snow bricks, make perfect blocks for a white structure. e. g. a marble palace and a marble statue
Discovery #2: Ice blocks are perfect for an ice rink (as long as you have guard rails).
I advise building one of two buildings in a snow biome: a castle or a tower. For the castle, remember to put lots of defensive mechanisms. In a tower, put the NPCs in the top rooms. I advice to put storage in the bottom and live in the room right above that.Terraria Snow biome
